Santa Fe Preparatory School graduated her in the year 1986. She received her degree from Northwestern University in 1990 with as a major in theater. Gunn was a student at The British American Drama Academy for one semester during the fall of 1988. Pamela Adlon shared a residence with Gunn following her move from Laurel Canyon Los Angeles. Gunn is known for her role as Skyler White in the AMC drama series Breaking. She was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding supporting actress in a Drama Series for her performance winning both in 2013 and 2014. In August of 2013, she published an opinion piece in The New York Times examining her public displeasure towards her persona.
