American actor and rapper Earl Simmons, born December 18, 1970, and passed away on April 9 2021. His debut album, It's Dark and Hot was released in 1998 to great critical and commercial success. The album sold 251,000 copies during its first week. [5][6] DMX's best-selling album,... and Then there was X, was released in 1999. This album included the top-selling single "Party Up (Up in Here). The singles from 2003 "Where is the Hood At?" Commercially and his 2003 singles "Where the Hood is at?" and "X Gon"X Gon Ya" were also popular. He was the first artist to release an album that reached No.1 five times in consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 charts. In total, DMX sold over 74 million albums around the world. [8] DMX was in movies such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave as well as Last Hour. He was a part of the reality television show DMX. Soul of a Man. It was primarily broadcast by the BET cable channel Never Die Alone. He published an autobiography of his memoirs, E.A.R.L. in 2003. : The Autobiography of DMX. 9. DMX began his journey in the music industry at 14 when he was a beatboxer with Ready Ron. After a stint in prison He began writing his own lyrics and performing in the local recreation center for kids who were younger than he. While in prison for carjacking, he spent the majority of his time writing lyrics. He also began rapping with K.Solo. The mixtapes he sold were produced and sold following he was released from prison for carjacking. It helped him to build his fan base within New York. Percee P and DMX appeared on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show 1991, in which they freestyled.
